The world is becoming noisier. We have never been this connected to technology and disconnected in other ways at the same time. This, undoubtedly, makes it difficult to stand out and be heard in such an intertwined world. We can now chat with someone halfway across the world with a simple swipe, but with the speed of globalization, we seem to lose track of those that are left behind in all of this madness.

Those that should not be forgotten but often are. They are at a disadvantage — because they are vulnerable, or even perhaps because they do not have access to the tools to get to the spotlight.

The global population is fascinating — we all have our individual and unique values that are shaped by our personality, backgrounds, life experiences, and much more. Our diversity is what makes us so captivating, yet this is sadly not always accepted or accounted for.

For this reason, Brand4Impact recognizes the importance of empowering those that are providing aid to groups and individuals that have a harder time being heard.

We are thrilled to welcome Fundación para la Diversidad, Fundación Mozambique Sur, AMIC, and Casal de la Pau to our team of impact. They help us to make the world a little more equal and to lend a voice to the underprivileged.

Fundación para la Diversidad

Fundación para la Diversidad is an entity composed of the European Institute for Managing Diversity and Fundación Alares. Their objectives focus on the promotion of inclusion and diversity in Spain by implementing the Diversity Charter, an initiative by the European Commission. Through this, their aim is to encourage European institutions and businesses to join the cause of diversity and inclusion in the work environment movement, so that this is a key element in their agenda.

The Charter includes 10 principles of inclusion and diversity, which include: awareness, building a diverse workforce, promoting inclusion, considering diversity in all directions, promoting conciliation, recognizing the diversity of customers, implementing diversity policies, and extending and communicating the compromise to employees, companies, administrations, organizations, syndicates and other social agents.

The Charter has already been signed by over 1000 companies in Spain and over 12000 in the entire European Union. By doing so, businesses and organizations make their commitment to diversity and work inclusion visible.

By promoting the diversity charter, this entity aspires to create a Spanish community formed by both public and private organizations that share the same motivation for inclusion and diversity. Through this 10-point Charter, their mission is to promote diversity management as an instrument of cultural transformation and its recognition in companies and institutions so that inclusive work environments are created, and eventually, social progression and economic competitiveness are advanced.

Fundación Mozambique Sur

Fundación Mozambique Sur is a development NGO founded in 2005 by a group of Spanish professionals with development in mind. They support 35,000 people from rural areas in southern Mozambique and lead transformations to eradicate poverty.

Their projects are focused on five main areas: education, health, environment, women, and sports. Their educational projects are focused on the academic formation of the youth, children, and adults. For example, they work to offer training opportunities to vulnerable youths and increase the accessibility of educational experiences to orphaned children. Additionally, their health programs aim to improve overall health indicator levels, such as by preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The NGO also promotes sustainable agricultural and economic activity whilst also caring for the environment. The fight for women’s recognition in society is also another of their main focuses, just to name a few examples. Thanks to their dedication, families in southern Mozambique have been progressing.

Fundación Mozambique Sur is driven by a main value: believing in people. Because of this, they want to provide vulnerable individuals with opportunities, so they become responsible for their own development and grow accordingly. Their team is motivated by solidarity, which is why they dedicate endless efforts to helping families in southern Mozambique. Together, they can eradicate poverty.

AMIC

AMIC is a development NGO formed in 2004 by a group of people who had participated in numerous cooperation projects and wanted to share their spirit of solidarity. Their efforts focus on children, as they work every day to improve their living conditions and fight for their rights. AMIC believes that only like this, they can build a more welcoming world with a promising future for children.

Their work is mainly centered in Guinea-Bissau, where they target different areas in need of action: food, education, health, shelter, gender equality, development… and raising awareness about the situation that these children are living in. Through these different focuses, they fight in accordance with UNICEF’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, which explain who children are, what their rights are, and the responsibilities of the governments. All their rights are connected, equally important, and cannot be taken away from children. For this reason, AMIC works hard to improve children’s living conditions by focusing on different aspects that will enable them to enjoy their rights and grow as individuals.

According to the United Nations Development Program, Guinea-Bissau is one of the 5 least developed countries in the world, with the lowest economic levels and precarious living conditions. Their mortality rates are amongst the highest in Africa and the world; especially their maternal and infant mortality rates.

In order to overcome this, AMIC considers it is essential for cooperation work to be rooted on active participation of the local community since they are the ones who have identified the need for help, and can thus become the true engine of development for their communities. They work with Casa Emanuel, (ASOCE) a local organization that works on numerous development projects. Through this, they can target their efforts to the young population as well as the entire community. In addition, AMIC also works with other local NGOs and others based in Spain in order to raise awareness of the injustices in the world and encourage the solidarity of the population.

Casal de la Pau

Casal de la Pau is an NGO that takes in and supports people at risk of social exclusion as its mission. Since 1972, their vision has been to aid people who undergo significant social changes and respond to their needs accordingly. They are also referents in the Valencian Community in prison care, offering transparency and bringing society closer to the prison world. Casal de la Pau also promotes mediation in criminal proceedings and favors alternative rehabilitative measures to prison.

Their values include freedom, social justice, support, autonomy, and respect. Through this, they aim to create a world that is supportive of those that are at a disadvantage and encourage their personal development through new opportunities. They offer several programs, such as their shelter project which offers temporary housing to those with exit permits, are in conditional or provisional release (whether they have been in prison or not) and who require social support to solve or avoid situations that may lead to social exclusion.

They work to prevent crime or relapse into previous problematic behaviors due to lack of personal or financial resources, as well as health, family, or drug problems for instance. They also offer other projects aimed at helping those who are terminally ill and need housing, provide social and legal care in Penitentiary Centers and places where people with limited resources are in. Additionally, their daily programs offer socio-educational programs and workshops for those who need them, in addition to providing hygienic services, a cloakroom, and supplying a dining room service where people can socialize. Another of their interventions focuses on offering an infirmary, where people can receive medical care regardless of the social difficulties they are facing.

Casal de la Pau offers numerous projects that help people at risk of social exclusion to find support and help, whilst working on their personal development and being able to reach their full individual potential. Through their work, inmates and ex-inmates can receive the care they need to push forwards.

Thanks to the efforts of all these NGOs, the world is becoming more inclusive and placing those that need attention under the spotlight. Together, we can ensure that those who are at their most vulnerable can be granted a voice and opportunities to empower themselves. For this reason, we cannot wait to see how Fundación para la Diversidad, Fundación Mozambique Sur, AMIC, and Casal de la Pau will strengthen our journey of impact and give a voice to those who need it the most.
